Reed bunting

This was all I had to show for an early morning trip to Amwell which was marred by the poor light but this little chap was very obliging

Common buzzard

This 'kettle' of buzzards was seen over the fields on the road between Hitchin and Codicote, wheeling and harrying each other with a red kite in attendance

Shoveller female

The extraordinarily large beak on these ducks always impresses but with a vocal area as large as that you have to feel sorry for the drake.........

Muntjac deer

The deer appeared from the reeds briefly and then vanished again back to whence it came, it was feeding at Amwell.

Cetti's warbler

A trip to Amwell was rewarded with these views of this perennial skulker, soon after this he re-appeared and gave views again and called.

Great tit

Image caught as it came down for a drink, shame about the reflection, taken at The Lodge.

Blackbird reflected...

Blackbirds always pose beautifully for the cameraman and this chap was no exception at The Lodge.

Carrion crow

I have found this species difficult to capture so that the light shows off all the features but this one just about does it. Taken at Dungeness

Lesser spotted woodpecker

I have a theory that these are called 'lesser
spotted' because they are seen to a lesser extent than the green and greater spotted! This female
was seen at Amwell and gave myself and others who joined me wonderful views

Sparrowhawk

This was pictured above the Amwell reserve in the Lee valley
