Redwing

Another trip to the new Letchworth cemetery came up trumps again when I found some redwings bathing in some puddles later joined by a corn bunting.

I got these pictures at the new cemetery in Letchworth, I had a forty minute wait before they plucked up their courage to walk near the car and eventually this one posed for me beautifully.

This was near Sandon where I have permission to put my hide up in 'raptor country'. In three days this week I have seen Merlin, Hen harrier (twice), Peregrine, Kestrel and umpteen Common buzzards.

Driving past Letchworth cemetery I noticed lots of winter thrushes and driving in using the car as a hide enabled me to get this picture.

I had only been in my hide for five minutes and this magnificent looking fox strode into view, however, just one click of the camera and it was gone.

This territorial fight erupted on my neighbours drive and involved all four magpies and was watched noisily by the resident crows.

Taken in the Sandon area of north Herts, I also watched a clouded yellow butterfly pass my hide, there are many quiet moments but these pictures show how close the birds come making it well worthwhile.

I was waiting for a picture of a kingfisher which has been fishing from perches all out of reach out of my camera when this bird landed close by and proceeded to walk up a dead tree.
